Our mission is to provide safe refuge for stray, abused, neglected and owner-surrendered dogs. We work to rehabilitate dogs to aid in finding them permanent, safe, and loving homes where they will live as members of a family. We are also dedicated to educating the community and promoting involvement with animal welfare issues.
A New Leash on Life Dog Rescue was founded in 2002 with a simple mission: to rescue dogs in need. With over 1700 adoptions to date, we continue to work towards our goal of helping deserving animals find loving homes. When we bring a puppy or dog into our organization, we make a commitment to that pet to make sure that it will be happy and healthy for the rest of its life.
How do you get your dogs?
We currently receive dogs and puppies from many different places including animal shelters, animal cruelty investigations, and individuals who can no longer care for their dogs.
Where are you located?
We are a North Carolina based non-profit organization. Prior to adoption, our dogs are in foster care where they live as part of the foster family and are socialized, trained, loved, and spoiled until placement with their permanent family. We do not have a centralized shelter location, as our dogs are fostered in our volunteers’ homes.
What is your adoption process?
All pets available for adoption are listed here. Once you have fallen in love with one of our dogs, please fill out an online application here and a volunteer will be in contact with you. In placing our dogs, we conduct an extensive interview/screening to ensure the quality and commitment of each home.
What sort of vet care do you provide?
Our dogs receive the best of veterinary care and are up-to-date on all vaccinations, are spayed or neutered, on flea/tick and heartworm preventatives, and have received any other necessary vet care.
