Seger is 75 pounds and appears to be a Border Collie/Pointer Mix. He was adopted from the SPCA 6 years ago at about 6 months of age. Recently the family had a child and Seger is a little jealous and having difficulty with the transition.

He’s up to date on all shots and has never had any major medical issues. His activity level has decreased over the years but he still needs more exercise and attention than a family with a newborn is able to provide. He enjoys other dogs off leash (at doggie day care, at the dog park, in a fenced yard, etc) but feels threatened sometimes on a leash – especially on his own ‘territory’ – and can sound and look a little intimidating.
(Side note: there are trainers noted on our website that work with people and dogs with these types of issues).

Seger has had limited experience with cats and would do best in a feline-free home. He could possibly enjoy having a canine brother or sister to play with all the time but has been the ‘only dog’ for 6 years so he’d probably do better staying in that role. He loves to be close to adults or older kids, but gets confused and a little jealous with toddlers. He does not do well with being crated but stays in the house alone all the time without destroying anything or messing in the house – he can hold it forever, it seems! He is very smart and knows lots of tricks and learns new things very quickly. He loves riding in a car or on a boat.

Seger is loving and loyal and needs a loving and loyal home. We will screen potential owners - please be prepared to provide references.

Wilson is Purebred Black Labrador. He is 3 years of age, neutered, up-to-date on shots and on heartworm and flea/tick preventative.

He is good with some dogs, but not others. He is an alpha male that is protective of his home. He has not been around cats, but would probably not do well with them. He is good with kids, but protective of his territory and family so introductions need to be controlled.

He is house-trained, leash, trained and has been to obedience classes - he knows sit, down, stay and release. He is used to being indoors and like most dogs loves to go outside as well. He loves to play hide and seek, tag, and play dead for a treat.

He is wonderful with our family, loves our children, very people oriented, loves to get outside to walk/run in the woods, more energy in the am and late afternoon anticipating two walks, wary of strangers when they come into his territory.

Wilson is protective and showing aggression when people come into his territory. He is great with dogs he knows but can be aggressive with new dogs until he gets to know them.

Wilson is about 130 pounds and not overweight!

Our boxer named Mason is 5 years old and he has been neutered. He is up to date with all his vaccinations. He is current with his heart worm and flea medication. He has not been heartworm tested, but it can be done.

I don’t know how he will act with other pets, but he is good with children and adults. Mason is house trained and is mainly an indoor dog. He loves to go on walks, but it will seem like he is walking you. He does know how to sit and lay down, he will howl if you sing, and if you say “peepee” he will go outside and go.

Mason loves a lot of attention, he will lick you to death, loves people, but can be protective when need be. Mason mainly just lounges around the house, but loves to play whenever you are ready. Mason is a great dog, but there is one challenge an adopter will have to face… he is allergic to everything (seriously). We have taken him to NCState for testing and he is allergic to grass (all types) and certain types of trees etc… we have the list at home. He is also allergic to certain foods, so he eats a prescription type food. We give him benadryl twice a day with food, but that can only do so much.

Mason breaks out every now and then and we end up having to give him steroids and antibiotics to get rid of the reaction. Ever since he was born this has been going on. The vet recommended he take an allergy prescription pill monthly to tame the break outs, but it can become costly. Mason is a great dog, very obedient and deserving of a loving home. I want him to go to a home that will dedicate their time to him because he is deserving of it.

Sweetie is a pure white American Bull Dog about 10 years old. She is spayed, up to date on shots, and she sees a vet regularly.

She's on Sentinel heartworm and flea/tick prevention. Sweetie is good with dogs, cats, and all people including kids. She is crate trained, leash trained, and she's used to being inside but seems to like being outside, too. Sweetie is very friendly and a little bit shy. She doesn't mess up the house when left alone. She does seem to be deaf now but it doesn't slow her down. Sweetie doesn't have really any bad traits and she has a great spirit.

Margie is a 15 month-old lab/shepherd mix. She’s light tan with white markings and full-grown at 67 lbs. She's up-to-date on all shots, micro-chipped and in great health. She graduated from two sessions of obedience school, knows lots of basic commands and earned her AKC good citizenship certificate.

She is quiet, gentle, and very loving. Margie is very loyal and protective of her family and will bark to announce strangers but greets friends warmly. She loves kids and needs very much to be a family pet. She is fully house-trained and crate trained and loves being with the family. She needs to be a mostly indoor/outdoor dog and needs a home with no small dogs or cats.

We have two cats and are unable to keep Margie for this reason alone! Please contact for more information about this great girl! Adoption fee $100 donation made payable to SPCA.

We are trying to find our 1 year old Chocolate Lab-“Bear” a GOOD home.

BEAR is registered and we got him from a reputable breeder. However, he was born with one eye, but gets along just fine.

He has never been around cats-so I don’t know how he would do with them.

He is WONDERFUL with our 7yr old, 9lb Chihuahua/Rat Terrier mix- he has been around a couple of other dogs and enjoys playing with them as well.

He is not aggressive with our 5 year old son, he is very loveable with him and also very gentle around our 2month old daughter. He is good with both men and women-doesn’t seem to have a preference.

He has not been neutered.

He weighs around 70 pounds & is current on all vaccines/heartworm.

Bear stays indoors primarily, seems to be housebroken but, we take him out regularly so I don’t know how long he could “hold it” . He will go out on a cable when we are home and the weather is nice. He would love to be able to run and play freely but we don’t have a fenced yard. He is crate trained and mindful on a leash.

Bear has a GREAT personality! He loves to be around people and/or another dog companion, he’s playful and sweet, but also likes to find a cool place to rest and relax. Games he likes to play are tug of war and fetching toys. The only commands he knows well are “Sit” and “Down”. Most of the “puppy” is out of him. He enjoys chewing still, but now prefers a rawhide or nylabone over our personal property. He still gets excited when you arrive home and he has to be reminded to stay down sometimes. He is eager to learn, wants to please, and is very correctable. He’s very loving, but has a good strong bark, to make you feel safe.

It is very important to us he goes to a caring home, that would enjoy him as a companion and a “buddy”. We want him to be loved by someone as much as we love him.
