BANJO
Bubba – 2 to 3yr old Male, looks like a Coonhound/Lab Mix

Early in December, a stray dog wandered onto our property. Knowing there is a large dog fighting ring in our area, plus someone driving around randomly shooting animals, we gave this dog life saving shelter. There is one animal shelter in our county, the local Animal Control Office in Lillington. My phone call to them was very discouraging. It was recommended I turn the dog over to them as “required by law” and they would “deal with the matter”. I know what that means and I won’t have him euthanized for no reason.
Since there are no no-kill shelters in my Harnett County, I am contacting your shelter. I understand there is little chance you can take him in but if you are able to post his bio in your office, web site or at an adoption event, I would be grateful.
Let me tell you a little about Bubba:

- Neutered male
- UTD on shots
- LOVES kids, chases cats
- Good with dogs if introduced first
- Respects horses
- Has good re-call
- Quiet when not stalled
- Happiest when he’s with people
- Has never pooped in his stall (house-broken?)
- Loves to ride in the truck or on tractor
- Stays in the yard
- No food aggression

Lillie Ann – 3 year old Blue Lacy/Hound Mix
Lillie Ann is our 3 year old Blue Lacy/Hound Mix that we rescued as a puppy. Lillie is a great dog with a strong desire to please and is very, very smart. She is fully house broken and knows sit, stay, down, she will wait at the door to go out and wait until told OK to go out or eat her dinner. She gets along well with our other dog and she gets excited when guests come over. As long as we are in the room she does not bark at the new people if we are in the other room she might bark or be a little scared. Lillie needs to be given more activity than we are able to give her and this has been the reason why she is becoming uncomfortable with and acting out toward our 10 month old child. She will growl and has snapped once toward our little one. She has never bit or lunged and will back up from her food, toys and treat when the little one gets to close to her. Lillie would be a great farm dog and a great hunting dog with the proper training. Lillie has completed basic training and a special class to help with being timid with K9 solutions of Raleigh . Lillie gets frightened easily being alone in a new place and during bad thunder storms…. Lillie is not aggressive as far as biting or lunging but, she will bark and show teeth when she is very scared. She loves playing and chasing our two cats. Lillie needs a loving family to give her the attention she deserves and you will be rewarded with a loving and very smart companion.
Spring – 2 year old female boxer
Spring was abandoned and found by a friend of mine who currently has her but her renter will not allow her to keep the pet on a permanent basis. She is good with kids. I am not sure about cats or other dogs.
Spring is roughly 50 pounds, and has gained weight. She was very thin when she was found. She is not spayed/neutered but she is house trained.
Please email brad_gates1521@yahoo.com or call 704-473-0283 if you are interested in Spring. She is a very sweet dog and deserves to have people who love and care about her.

Petey – 3 year old shepherd and lab mix
Petey weighs 70 lbs. He is neutered and is current on all shots. He loves to run and is good with children. He likes riding in the car and is a very social dog (loves to play with other dogs). He knows all basic commands (sit, come, stay, down, go home (get in his bed)).
If interested please call Kelleigh Russo at 919-801-4992 or 919-787-1238

Bear – 3 year old mix
Bear is a fun loving mutt who deserves the best in life. By mutt, I mean mutt. No one aside from some guesses has come close to figuring Bear out. He is about 65lbs-and with a good diet he should be able to cut it down to 55lbs (he doesn’t diet well). Bear just celebrated his 3rd birthday the 10th of December.
He has been neutered since he was 5 months old and even has a little “N” tattoo on his inner leg! He is up-to-date on his Rabies vaccine, but not sure about bordetella or distemper. He is not on heartworm prevention, but is on flea and tick prevention (Frontline). He has been heartworm tested and is negative.
Bear used to be good with other dogs and recently has acted out towards two other dogs. He does great with puppies though. I think he could be socialized with another dog just fine because he spent so many years around dogs of all shapes and sizes without a problem. Bear LOVES cats. He will chase and sniff them until he gets used to them – then he gets bored and doesn’t bother with them. His best friend is a cat.
He doesn’t mind kids. He sometimes gets excited so he may knock over a small kid, but other than that – no problems. He LOVES people – all people. Especially guests. He will even try to sit on their laps! He is house trained and does go in a crate when he gets a little too excited. Doesn’t walk very well on a leash. Must be on a leash when walked or he will run away.
He is an inside dog ONLY. He does enjoy spending time outdoors. He will sit for a treat or toy – otherwise it’s 50/50. He also can very successfully break into his food and feed himself. Bear is also very good at taking down baby gates.
He has a disability. Luxating Patella. He has a minor case and rarely needs his medicine. He has to limit his activity-short walks, short playtime in the backyard. He has short burst of energy, then mostly sleeps. He has shown signs of early hip dysplasia. He is usually by my side all day and follows me from room to room. He has allergies and has been picking at his skin so bad lately he has a sore. He gets depressed when I am away and just sits around all day.
Bear has been with me since he was 8 weeks old. We have been through a lot together. He is kinda silly and loving. He just deserves more – more than I can give right now. He will be your best friend.

Pebbles – German Shepard-Chow mix
Pebbles is four years old, been spayed, has had all her shots, and is kept on heartguard and frontline monthly. All records are up to date with the Bunn Animal Hospital, in Bunn.
We found Pebbles in the middle of the road when she was a puppy drinking from a water puddle. We brought her home after checking around the homes in the area. No one claimed her so we did. She is a very good watch dog, and lets you know when someone is around that should not be.
She is house trained and comes in when it is really cold out, otherwise she is outside. She loves straw in her house when it gets cold.
We need to find a new home for her; she has gotten too aggressive to the other dogs. She bit my daughter’s Lab puppy the other day and took a pretty good chunk out of his side. She needs a home of her own again. Pebbles is very energetic all the time, and loves to play with balls and sticks. She loves to be rubbed and loved. She hates cats because our neighbors have cats and have teased her by the fence.
Pebbles is up to date on all her shots and heart-worming and frontline doses. She does not like strangers and that is even someone that does not come often but does come over. Once she knows you, you are fine but we need to be around when she is getting to know you.
I do not want to take her to the pound as my husband does; she is too sweet of a dog. I am afraid that she will be put to sleep – I love her too much to have that done to her so I am trying to find her a good and loving home. We inherited my parents’ dog and my daughter’s dog so I end up doing the unthinkable and having to give Pebbles away. Can you please help me find a good home for her? Let me know. Dixie – 2.5 year old, 50 lb. Australian Sheppard Mix
Dixie is very sweet, loving, and gently and behaves very well around children (3 years and older).
Dixie is on monthly heartworm preventative as well as Frontline for fleas and ticks. She has been checked out by a Vet and has had her Rabies shot.
Dixie has not shown much aggression towards other dogs and cats, and she knows basic commands. Dixie also does well on a leash.
