Updates from Adopters!

Zoe is still doing great - we love her so much! Here are a couple of pictures. She really loved her first snow, and she has now become very comfortable going to the dog park and meeting other dogs.

Things are going great! we renamed Bessie....................Raleigh! :) She is a true southern belle when she isnt busy being a typical puppy.

She sleeps through the night and is up to almost four cups of food a day. We are still working on housetraining, but we have tons of wee wee pads. She gets along with Maggie very well, but she loves my Mom's 3 weiner dogs even more!

She is a great snuggler, and has been known to make our heads into makeshift pillows. We can't wait until she gets her last shots next weekend, so we can officially enroll her in puppy school. Thanks for all the hard work you do!

Rivers finished up his last set of puppy shots (including rabies) at the end of December, and is perfectly healthy. He has finished one six week training class and now knows "sit", "down", "stay", "come", "off", "drop it", "leave it", "wait", "roll over", and walks well on the leash.

He still sleeps in his crate at night with no problems. He is very good with all people and other dogs/cats. We have been taking him to the off-leash dog park almost every day for an hour or two where he loves to wrestle with the other puppies and larger dogs.

He is beginning his second obedience class now, where he will continue to reinforce the fundamentals and learn some more advanced things. We are very glad that we decided to adopt him and look forward to watching him grow up.

Tommy and Katie

Kona is doing great! He goes for his third round of shots this Wednesday. He is 15 lbs. already... I hope my little boy will stop growing soon!

Dave and I enrolled him in puppy classes every Tuesday for 8 weeks. He is great with all the other dogs and gets really excited to get in the car! His instructor says we are doing a great job with him. He is very smart:)

He is also doing well with potty training. He still has accidents but for the most part he walks to the front door when he needs to go out.

Thank you so much for your help in bringing us together! He brings so much joy to our lives!

Tracy and Dave

Piper is doing great and has been a perfect fit to our family. He loves to cuddle and meeting ANYONE or ANYTHING. If we have friends or family come to visit, Piper cries when they leave... he just loves people!!

He has enjoyed the snow that we recently got but he doesn't like the sweater that we got him:) He is growing everyday but still only weighs about 12 pounds and the doctor says he is very healthy!

Daniel and Kelly

Shelby is doing great and is definitely part of the family. She even has brought a little life into our 12 year old Collie. They talk a lot - but Emily still lets Shelby know she's the boss.

The boys have really stepped up to the plate with walking and feeding. We did get her a gentle leader, because she really pulls, but is getting better. She is great about telling us she needs to go out.

Shelby loves sitting by the front door with Emily watching all the activity.

Charlie is fabulous!!! We are still learning about each other. He doesn't bark when he needs to potty, but he just sits in front of the door -though he has started coming to me now

We went to the dog park and Charlie made some new friends. I was a little anxious at first, but he did really well!!! He is feeling comfortable enough here to start getting his ball and throwing it at me :))

Charlie and Scruffy are getting along well. Kiki the kitten and Charlie love to chase each other and wrestle - it sounds like they are killing each other LOL!

We LOVE Lexi! She is such a joy and we are spoiling her rotten. She is doing great, very healthy and my girls just love her. We are still working on her socialization with our cat, and it seems to be getting better. Our older Jack Russell plays with her and is teaching her proper doggie behavior with her biting to hard during play ( I think she has become her surrogate mommy).

We plan to get her spayed when she is six months old. She is crate trained and is gradually getting better with soiling in the house, but she still has a few accidents. We have raised many dogs, and it just takes time. She will get there. She already knows how to sit and she loves to chase tennis balls in the yard and bring them back to us.

How are her other siblings doing? I hope their forever owners love them as much as we love Lexi! Thanks for choosing us as her new parents!

Take care, Amy Morrell

P.S. Please tell Danella we said hello and that we appreciate what a wonderful Foster Mommy she was to Lexi!

Amelia is doing good. She went to the vet Monday to have her next vaccination. The doc said she looks great! Her lungs and heart sounded good, her stool looked good and she did wonderfully! I am mailing in her registration and payment today for the Basic Manners Class with K9 Solutions, I have been talking to Sylvie there. Thanks for recommending them :)

We look forward to starting that class hopefully February 4th. We hope that thru the class we learn how to communicate better with Amelia, more ways to help her thru her nipping and chewing stages and now she is climbing the baby gate... She really does not like for Mommy and Daddy to be in seperate rooms. If we are all in the same room she is content, but the moment I or her Dad leaves the room to go to our bedroom or the laundry room she tries to get over the gate.

She is a cuddler at night and this makes her Daddy jealous, b/c she cuddles with me :) She has met all of her family now except her Uncle Jon. She got a Snuggie for Christmas so I am attaching a picture of her in that.

Thanks, Lauren

Triscuit is still doing great! He's taken right to his crate, he goes in on command and he knows sit and come (sometimes). : ) He and Leia are getting along great, though we'll see how it goes when he gets big enough that she can't escape him by jumping up on a bed or couch! He's still only about 10 lbs, but he definitely looks alot bigger since we got him, and he's grown some more wiry hairs sticking out of his face and body, kind of like his brother Columbus had.

Our house is pretty much covered in puppy toys, which he likes to play with and hide from Leia. Our roommate's cat even likes to play with him; Triscuit will get under a chair and whenever he pokes his head out on different sides, Boots will run around and bat at him. He hisses at him sometimes too, but we know he secretly likes him. : )

We're starting puppy class at Petsmart at the end of the month, so we're definitely looking forward to that when he'll be able to play with all the other puppies.

Thanks so much for rescuing him, we love him to death! Katie and Jonah

This is Stella (aka Molly). My mom and dad changed my name. I love them so much, and they love me. We all play ball, go for long walks and even travel. I love riding in the car, I sleep good when I ride. I have the cutest clothes, my mom sent pics for you to see. I go to the spa to have my hair and nails done... they say I am spoiled, they are right! The neighbors just love me too. They all want to take me home... my mom says "no way"... I'm glad!! Love you, Stella

Hope everyone is doing great. Sorry it took so long for me to reply back. Such a busy season. I cannot thank you enough for my "babydoll". Stella is wonderful. She makes Curt and I so happy. We love her as if she were our child...lol I hope all the other dogs needing a home are as lucky as we have to have Stella. Keep in touch and let me know if you ever need my help for anything. Stella and I will be there, if the need be. Enjoy the pictures.

Thanks again, Ruth & Curtis

Just wanted to give an update on Abby. Just heard great news from the vet that her heartworm test came back negative! (She went through treatment in July & August.) My husband & I were thinking that she must be heartworm free because her energy & activity level did a complete turn around. She scampers all around the house and romps up & down the stairs. When we first got her, we had to put the harness on her while she was still laying on the petbed and coax her up. Now she sprints to the door!

We took a road trip up to Pennsylvania to visit family before Christmas, which is about a 9 hour drive. Abby & our other dog did perfect. Abby did her excited loud hound bark for the first 5 minutes, then settled down and slept the whole way. She wasn't very keen about the cold weather, but did enjoy doing a few laps in my parent's backyard in the snow!

Just wanted to say thanks again for saving this sweet girl. She is perfect for our family & we are so lucky to have her!

Good luck & thanks for all you do!

Dania, Ryan (& Abby)

Miso is WONDERFUL!! We absolutely love him to death. I have wanted a dog for so long and I feel that we waited for the most perfect dog in the world. I love him so much that I can't imagine my life before he was around.

He's finally finished with all his shots and he's healthy as can be. He is almost 30 lbs now!!! Can you believe it??

Our friends and family also can't get enough of him. He truly does have so many people that care about him. Happy New Year!

Sincerely, Lindsay

Things are going well and we LOVE Clover. We are taking her to my hometown in the mountains where they have lots of snow, so she should have a good time there. She was just at the vet this morning and she has quickly grown to 26lbs. She is very loving and energetic.

Clover and one of our cats have really hit it off playing with each other. Our other cat is a little slower to come along so that will take a little more time.

She is learning fast and now shakes paws as well as sits. She was a little nippy playing when we first got her but we have worked on that and it's almost 100% cured. She is very sweet and loving and loves her toys.!

I changed Gibson's name to Nico and he is doing great!!! I just love him and am so happy to have found him through you. He was having problems with people coming into our home but has been much better about it recently. I have taken him to several friends houses for play dates with other dogs and he has so much fun!!

Callie is doing wonderfully! She has been such a joy to us and our son... right now, she's sitting next to me on the recliner (one of her favorite spots) just giving me puppy eyes. She and Cooper love to chase each other around the house and outside - she's REALLY gentle with him as he is with her too... It's amazing that a puppy and two year old co-habitate so well together. She LOVES to dig outside, so Cooper's sandbox has come in handy...there are several small holes in the backyard, but for the most part, she sticks to the sandbox :)

She's definately spoiled... we stopped using the crate after the 2nd night we had her...she prefers sleeping in bed with us, or next to the bed. We are getting ready for our trip to PA for Christmas. It's an 8 hr. drive, but I think she will do well in the car... We took her to Rocky Mount with us when we went there for Thanksgiving, and she just layed in her bed next to Cooper's car seat the whole trip.

We are so grateful that we found Calico and you let us adopt her... she has been a wonderful addition to our family.

Does he look comfortable or what? Beanie is doing very well. I'm using positive reinforcement and a clicker for training and he is responding. He has not had an accident inside for over a week (as far as I know) and I am trying to allow him a little independence. I really can't leave him alone for more than a couple moments at a time though, as he is very mischievious! We adore him and Milo is continuing to do better with him too!

Wags is simply a wonderful dog and we love him dearly. He appears happy and very healthy. In fact, Wags has gained 7 pounds, most of it muscle! He and Frida, our wire-haired Fox Terrier, have become inseparable. They run, wrestle and play tug all day long. By nightfall , both are completely worn out.

Wag's temperament is so friendly and easy-going that Frida has become less anxious with fewer problem behaviors. We can't thank New Leash on Life enough for bringing Wags into our family. We should also commend his foster Mom. Her patience and insight into animal and human behavior made this 'fit' possible. We are very grateful.

Ko, whom we renamed Lola, is doing great! She is very smart and has done extremely well with potty training. She is also getting TALL :) We absolutely love her and remember life as very boring without her!! Thanks again!

Kasey is wonderful! She has become part of the family so quickly! She has already learned many simple commands and loves to go for long walks in the woods. She goes to doggie daycare twice a week, where she gets to run and play with other dogs. She is doing very well on learning “dog language” at daycare and how to play well with others.

We recently took her with us on our Thanksgiving vacation to Cape Hatteras. I have attached a picture of Kasey with my 5 year old niece. They both had a fabulous time at the beach!

We feel so lucky to have been able to add Kasey to our family. Thank you for rescuing Kasey and helping to bring Kasey into our home.
